Shopping for Men

The men in my life can sometimes be extremely hard to purchase for during the holidays.  I tend to purchase them all the same thing each year, just different styles. My husband and dad are big knife collectors, so I also try to get them a few different knives to add to their collections. I mean you cannot go wrong on gifts when you get one something they collect now can you. Chances are I will never get them two of the same knives. This year I want to get them each knives engraved with their names on them. With Christmas only a few months away, it is time to start looking. I don't want to wait for the last minute, and the items not get shipped in time. One place I found online, that seem to be really reasonable in their prices is knife depot. I have found some pretty neat knives on there! I may have to get me a small folding pocket knife for my purse. A pink Swiss army knife would make a great addition to my purse, I am always looking for something to open packages with when I am … [Read more...]

Hallmark BlogOut Challenge

Hallmark has a new challenge which I will be doing, and to be honest, I know it will be extremely hard for me to do.  However, I like this challenge, and would love for others to join in with me. Their new challenge is called BlogOut. The reason for this challenge, is to get those to turn off technology, and spend more time with family and friends. Now, they are not asking for you to do this for a long period. However, a few hours during the afternoon would never hurt right? I plan on doing it a full day, and I will be doing this on the weekend so my daughter is not having me break the challenge with helping her with her schooling. I will be taking a lot of pictures (I know a camera is technology), but I will be taking pictures to show all of you! During this time, I will be playing fun games with my daughter, as well as going on a fossil hunt. I have to say since we have moved back home, we are outside more. I mean a lot more then when we were in Tennessee. So who is in this … [Read more...]

Rafflecopter the New has Wore Off

When rafflecopter was first introduced, I thought it was rather neat. I liked how easy it was to enter, and also the back-end of things. However, the new of rafflecopter has wore off, and I have noticed bloggers are getting a bit wild with it. This is causing companies to lose the buzz they are reaching out for. I have been entering giveaways for awhile now, and what annoys me is when a blogger is using rafflecopter, and they have 5 mandatory entries, and not one has to do with the sponsor of the item. I mean come on 5 mandatory entries... let's be real here, isn't that a bit much, and to NOT promote the sponsor a bit better. Don't you think that is a bit tacky. The company goes out of their way to get you a product for review, they also give you one to giveaway, and you cannot make the mandatory about the company. This looks bad on bloggers, and gives them a bad name. Another thing that annoys me, and many others entering giveaways (yes, I have spoke with several). When a … [Read more...]

Fun Weekend

How was your weekend? Let me show you a bit of what we did this weekend. We broke out the paints, and painted rocks! What better way to keep the kids entertained, then with some big rocks, some paints and some....Googly eyes! Some one forgot to tell my niece those eyes go on the ROCKS! Silly little girl anyways. I have to admit it was pretty nice having all my nieces together with my daughter. They got a bit loud, but they had fun, so that is all that mattered. After some rock fun we had a sleep over! Littlest pests, and squinkies will keep a girl quiet for hours, until you break out the picture of Santa by your tree, and the letter he wrote you. My daughter showed her cousins the letter Santa wrote, and my baby niece started crying, because Santa never left her a picture and letter. She said she guessed Santa liked my daughter more, because she was a better kid! I have to crack up at my baby niece, she says some pretty funny stuff! I could probably make a whole blog … [Read more...]

what’s in your mailbox

I love getting packages that I am not expecting! I don't like having to pay for shipping though. Today, the mail carrier stops by, I go out to find out a package as forwarded from my old address, and I have to pay 9.02 for the package... EEK. I was really tempted to tell the carrier to return to sender because the last time, I paid for postage it was a on a freebie. So I asked her if I could see who it was from. She held the box up and a HUGE Squinkie sticker showed... Darn it, I cannot tell them to send this back. So, I pay the money, get inside open the box and I am shocked with what I see! A TON of squinkies from the boys line! mmhmm I have yet to show my daughter, she will freak once she sees them. I seen, the Skull Cavern set, cars, spiderman, and some others I am clueless about. As soon as she gets her schooling done, I am going to kick her out, and get some pictures! That is one thing I can say, my daughter will play with these even though they are boy toys. I … [Read more...]

what do dreams mean

Do you ever wonder what your dream means? I dream almost every night, my husband on the other hand hardly ever dreams. Or he does and doesn't recall them. I know most my dreaming revolves around things that have happened recently. For instance, last night we were talking about bears. When we lived in Tennessee the area we were in, wasn't bear area. When we moved back to Michigan we entered bear area. Now, not many bears have been seen in this direct area we are in, when we went up north a bit we seen bear crossing signs. I thought it was a bit funny to see the sign, and I was praying those bears stayed in the woods. Anyhow we were talking about bears last night, and I guess when I went to sleep I had bears on my mind, because I had a dream that a baby bear was outside. I tried to get my camera to take a picture because I new noone would believe me. However, by the time I got back the bear was gone. I woke up startled, a bit. Then went back to bed, and started to … [Read more...]

getting back into playing

My husband is a very musical person, me on the other hand I love to listen to it, but I cannot keep rhythm. I remember the first time I heard him sing, I got chills. He is very passionate when it comes to playing any musical instrument. He currently owns, a violin, an acoustic guitar, and an ocarina. He isn't the best at the violin, but I think that is because of me. Whenever he would go to play I would get a bit annoyed and make him stop. I can only take so much screeching. Today when we were at my sister's house, he heard her husband play the guitar for the first time, and it got him excited. He was telling me now he has someone he can actually play music with. I can picture it now, Friday nights will be sitting around listening to them play music together. My husband was in a small band when he was younger, as he got older he no longer had the time. I am hoping he will start back into playing again, because I know it is something he loves doing. Next he will be wanting to … [Read more...]
