My Top 5 Favorite Oldie Love Songs

I have to say I am a sucker for romance. I could watch some of my favorite love movies over and over and not get bored with them. I could also sit here and listen to the same music. Growing up some of my favorite songs came either from the country station or my mix of Oldies Love Songs. My top 5 favorite oldies long songs are... 5. Walkin After Midnight -  Patsy Cline 4. All Shook Up - Elvis Presley 3. A Teenager in Love - Dion & the Belmonts 2. Are You Lonesome Tonight - Elvis Presley 1. When a Man Loves a Woman - Percy Sledge Elvis Presley was a very big part of our home, mom listened to him almost daily. When I moved to Tennessee it was neat to see where he grew up, and even learn about his home. Music is one of those natural stress relievers to me, I can be sitting here having a bad day, and I turn on some music I grew up listening to and everything seems to get a bit better. Although this is music before my time. I still loved listening to it, I supposed … [Read more...]

Homemade Doggie Treats!

Treats for pets can be pretty expensive, so I have decided to try to make our puppy some homemade treats. Some of his favorite treats are beef bones. I have decided to make him some chicken/salmon bones with a little spinach, broccoli, oat meal, instant milk, and some flour. While I as making them he was just like a little kid watching me while licking his lips. I have them in the oven right now, so I am not so sure how these will turn out. I hope they harden, if not I know he will still love them, since we have been feeding him the mix in with his food. The reason for this mixture is because it's high in vitamin k. Our puppy got into some mouse poison the other night. While we got him to throw it all up within 10 minutes, and it was older stuff and he didn't get a lot. We have to make sure he gets a lot of vitamin k so his blood doesn't start to thin out. If this happens we maybe in trouble. He is acting like normal and showing no signs of issues. While I know he is not out … [Read more...]

Well Child Check-Up

I think it has been about 3 years since my daughter has been to the doctor. Does this make me a bad parent? I just don't see the need to take her every time she is running a fever, and well she was all up to date on shots and all that good stuff, so her seeing a doctor was really no concern to me. That and my own mental issues, caused me from picking up the phone and getting her in. Well I knew she was needing to get her well child check up, with her doing public schooling online. I made her an appointment at a doctor I new nothing about, but heard many good things. I have to say I like her doctor, and she actually explains things to my daughter, instead of talking to me as if my child isn't there. Recently, my daughter has been weighing herself almost daily. She is becoming obsessed with the scales, I guess I am to blame since I am over weight, and well I am obsessed with the scales. While we were in the doctors office I brought this up to the doctor, and she punched in all … [Read more...]

Singing Competitions

The other day I was watching the news, and Memphis was holding a singing audition. The winner of "Memphis Idol" would get in to see the judges for American Idol try outs in Louisiana.  I have noticed over the years American Idol has become a very successful show, and a lot of great talent has been discovered. I would say my all time favorites are Carrie Underwood, and Scotty. With this success, brings news stations to hold their own singing competitions, to find the best to represent their home towns. Not long ago they showed who was getting into the auditions in Louisiana, I personally didn't think she was that great, but who am I to say if she is good or not. I will leave that up to the judges. I am said Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Taylor will no longer be judges, but it is, what it is right? Anyway when they introduced the girl that would be getting a free trip to the front row, it was no surprise to me that she had a singing coach. While it is great these young kids get … [Read more...]

School Starts Soon

If you are in the South, I can almost bet that Summer break is almost over. I am going to be honest, and I am not ready for it to be over yet. With my daughter homeschooling, we will be trying a new avenue in our schooling. I am currently working to get her enrolled into Tennessee Virtual Academy. I am excited about this move, I like the idea of her having an actual teacher, and me being her coach. This will bring a lot of anxiety off me, every year I worry if I am teaching my daughter the things she needs to be learning. Let's be honest, I know I am teaching her the main things of life, which are how to raise a family, how to budget, and how to succeed in the world. However, the school systems teach a lot more, me personally I think some of the things taught are not needed, and more around family, and everyday life it. A lot of the reasons we decided to home school our daughter was because of my anxiety, taking her to and from school was becoming to much on me, and the fact she … [Read more...]

Scholastic Printables Great For Home Schoolers

We have been homeschooling our daughter since she was in kindergarten. One thing I like about homeschooling her is all the options we have. We are not set to only one topic, and when she starts having issues in other areas we can work harder on that topic before we move on. One of my favorites sites is Scholastic. They offer thousands of printable worksheets, that will allow us to mix and match until she gets the hang of what we are working on. Another thing I like is the fact they do have worksheets for all subjects which we like to use throughout our schooling. However, you don't need to be a homeschooler to use these worksheets. They can be used by both parents and teachers with children in grades Pre-K to 8th. My favorite is the math worksheets, Gillian has been having issues with multiplication so when I searched for multiplication worksheet printables it brought me to Scholastic's and I was hooked. When we were in Michigan I was even printing these off and letting my nieces … [Read more...]

Viacom and Directv Head to Head

So what is everyone intact on Viacom demanding their channels be pulled by Directv? I know many people are putting blame on directv, however, if you dig into this whole situation deeper you will see viacom is the one to blame. Within the next few years, most people will be streaming all their shows online, so Directv is trying to not only help you, but also themselves by trying to come up with a deal where you the consumer, can purchase ONLY the channels you watch. We had Directv at one time, however, we didn't feel we should have to pay for all those channels we didn't watch when we only watched a certain few. However, those certain few were on the most expensive package deal you could get. We have not had Directv in almost a year, we do have Netflix, and Hulu Desktop, and well we know we can always go to the network sites, and often watch some of our favorite channels. From my understanding Disney just came out with an app to let you watch their shows on your Apple products. I … [Read more...]
