Crochet Monster High Hat Pattern

I have come to learn how to crochet, and I have to say I am loving it! I started out slow, first with some dish scrubbies and wash clothes. Now I am working on making hats. I know I still need lots of practice so I have started to make the family some hats. What better way to practice then making hats for the family. My first attempt was a fail. Made one for my husband, well I am only just learning how to read patterns, and let's just say every time I went around the hat I managed to add another stitch. I have now completed four hats, the last three have been pretty awesome, two of which were monster high hats, the first one isn't as good as the second... First attempt... Second attempt... Before I started I looked for a pattern. The only thing I could find was people selling them, so I decided to just pretend I knew what I was doing. I used the pattern at Happy in Red as a guide. However, the first time using this pattern it was a bust, so I made some changes to … [Read more...]

Fun Vacations

Growing up we spent a lot of time on the water. We did a lot of boating, one thing I disliked most about boating and getting into the water was the boats I were to ride in never had ladders. This made getting in the boat a tad difficult when we would stop to picnic off the little beaches. When I got older I learned they make ladders for this very reason! Did you know they even make boarding ladders for yachts? I have never been on a yacht personally, but I dream of going on one in the ocean. I would love to head on down to Florida on vacation, and see about getting one of those tour boats. My husband has talked about renting a yacht for the day and going peacock bass fishing. I am not much for fishing, but I will be more than willing to head out to sea on a yacht. While my husband and daughter fish, and enjoy the weather and the view. I have seen so many pretty pictures from family and friends who have had the pleasure of vacationing in Florida. The water from the Ocean is so … [Read more...]

Monitoring Your Child’s Internet Activity

I have always considered myself blessed. I have a rather good child, she has her faults like all children, and I have tried to raise her to be up front and honest. It wasn't until recently, I started to question her limits on-line. I try to give her as much privacy as possible, because she is growing, and she does need to find herself. Tonight, I received an email from Animal Jams, it seems my daughter has gotten on there and tried to act adult like, and pass off a few not so nice jokes. When I seen the dialog of her chat, I was mortified! How could my innocent child talk like that, the first thing I did was get her to my computer so she could read her own words. When I received the email, I asked her what the email was in reference to, her responds was she don't know. I gave her enough time to tell me what I was about to find out, she kept stating she didn't remember. When I got the chat logs, she remembered very well what the chat was about. I took all her electronics away … [Read more...]

The Benefits of Disk Backup Solutions To Business Infrastructures

Maintaining the availability of your computer data is of the highest importance to preventing information loss and potential downtime of services or content. Secondary and alternative storage solutions are a highly effective and beneficial way to prevent the damages caused when important data would otherwise be lost forever. In the event of power failure, data can be lost very easily. Information being processed at the time of the power outage is interrupted and fails to complete transferring from one location to another. The added flexibility and security of using an advanced disk backup system will ensure your entire data network is maintained at the source. When a power failure causes transmitting data to be corrupted, having a backup of your data source will ensure it can be recovered and available for re-transmission. Whether you need to backup data on the cloud, physical systems in the work area or within virtual data environments, industry leading backup solutions will … [Read more...]

Black Friday shopping has always been a thing for me; I loved the rush of things. Now that my daughter is older, I tend not to mess with the hectic stores, and I stay home. Leaving The Big City For The Outdoors Life

Growing up I have so many fond memories of camping. Summers spent camping were always some of the best. Now it seems kids would rather sit inside playing games or watching TV. What happened to the good ol outdoors? While it seems has though Summer has just ended it will be back with us before we know it. If you are looking for fun things for your children to do in 2013, plus stay out of trouble. Look into Summer Camps! Summer camps are a ton of fun, when I was younger we couldn't wait until the day came we could load up on the bus and head to camp. If you don't have a summer camp program in your area you can always send them off to another location for camp. Think of the stories your child could tell about their experience with Summer Camp in New York. Many people associate New York with the big city, but it is so much more. Summer of 2013 send your kids to Summer camp so they can have the summer of their life. Sometimes camping is just what our children need to break away … [Read more...]

What’s On Those Thanksgiving Menus?

Last year we didn't do Thanksgiving. This is a long story, and I would rather forget a large part of 2011. However, this year we are back home and we will be doing Thanksgiving at our home with "part" or my husband's family. The last time we had Thanksgiving here my father in law was still alive, I am thinking it was about 8 years ago or so. Then we switched to having it at my sister in laws. I am in away excited to be having it at my own home. I am not sure who all will be here or what all we will be having. We all just bring dishes to pass... I know we will be having... 2 Turkey's (hub is making one, and his brother is making the other) Pumpkin Pie Macaroni and Cheese Green Bean Casserole Mashed Potatoes Sweet Potatoes Stuffing Corn Banana pudding and possibly dinner rolls. This year it really isn't that organized a lot has yet again taken place, but we will make the best out of it! I hope when the big day comes everyone gets full! We might work … [Read more...]

6 Tips for Introducing Higher Literature To Kids

The typical child reads simple novels, fiction and comics on a regular basis. Introducing more stimulating reading material can be both challenging and rewarding if done properly. It is important to encourage kids to read literature that will help them develop better comprehension skills and a greater vocabulary. In addition to this, many works of higher literature teach valuable life lessons and help one gain greater self perspective. There are 6 specific ways you can introduce this type of literature to your children. Keep Things Simple The way you present any new material should be done at the learning level of each individual child. Before you begin letting your child read higher literature alone, try reading the material together and sharing interpretations together. Giving your child insight into how to comprehend the meaning of advanced reading material is key to developing their reading development. Be sure to explain things in simple and straightforward terms while letting … [Read more...]
