Stop Intruders
Having a self hosted wordpress blog allows you to have several awesome plugins. I love being able to see who is trying to gain unauthorized access to my blog. One of my all time favorite plugin for wordpress, is the limited login plugin. Having this plugin lets me protect my blog from the "password scanners". Usually, they try a few times give up and move on, however, the other day I noticed someone trying to gain access and they were temporary banned, following day same thing. After I had seen 4 failed attempts, I decided it was time to just ban this person. Today I go in and look at my ban logs, this person has made 10 attempts to gain access. They want in bad, to bad they are not getting in, I think it is time to change a few settings, and make it ban after the first failed attempt. After doing some research I found this to be an Amazon ip address, and I may have to contact them to let them know someone is misusing their TOS.I dislike those that try to be destructive of … [Read more...]
pregnant and ran away with boyfriend.
As I was on facebook last night, one of my friends posted something, and I had to share. I do not know where this originally came from... A mother passing by her daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then she saw an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed. It was addressed, "Mom." With the worst premonition, she opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands: Dear Mom: It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new boyfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Dad and you. I've been finding real passion with Ahmed and he is so nice-even with all his piercings, tattoos, beard, and his motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Mom, I'm pregnant and Ahmed said that we will be very happy. He already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams … [Read more...]
Tasty Thursday: Steak Fingers
Have you ever had that meal that made you go back for more even if you were not hungry. I have had that meal many times, even though I know I should say no more, I say just a little more. Steak fingers is another recipe my sister taught me to make many years ago. Steak Fingers Recipe Family pack of cubed steak (trust me you will want left overs on this one) Flour Eggs Milk Peanut oil Seasons to taste. Cut the cubed steak in strips once you have them all cut, mix milk and eggs to make a egg wash. Mix some flour with the seasons you would like, I usually just do salt, pepper, and garlic. Heat up some peanut oil in a frying pan, we use peanut oil, because it cooks more even. Now dip your steak in egg, then flour, then put it in the pan. Make sure the oil is hot or this will not do right, cook each steak a few minutes on each side, then place on a plate with paper towel to help gather some of the grease. Continue cooking until you have them all cooked up. Serve … [Read more...]
what do you think of the death penalty
I have always been a strong believer of one should have to pay for their crime. I have also been a believer of the death penalty. I feel some crimes need to be handled by death. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel everyone should be sent to death for wrong doing. However, I feel strongly of a person to be sent to death for harming a child in away that is unforgivable. Such as Casey Anthony, maybe she shouldn't have received death, she should however have spent more time in prison. She is the reason her child is gone, whether it was by her hands or by her stupidity. Within the past few hours, Georgia put a man to death, when there WAS NOT enough evidence to say this man committed the crime. Millions of people around the world, protested, asked to re-look into this case. The judge refused, the state refused, this man was left out to dry. Did Troy Davis commit the crime he was accused of, or was this one of those "we will pin the crime on someone to close the case deals." Troy Davis … [Read more...]

National Apple Month and Baked Apples Recipe
Did you know September is National Apple Month? As the saying goes, an apple a day, keeps the doctor away! Does it really keep the doctor away? Apples are big this time of year, due to them being a fall fruit. With Halloween coming several will start having fun parties, which include the all time favorite game of bobbing for apples! How many of you have bobbed for apples? Did you know apples are also one of the healthiest snacks you can give your children? They help prevent heart disease, they help to control ones cholesterol, and they also help manage weight. One of my favorite ways to eat apples is dipped in caramel and rolled in nuts. Yes, I know so much for managing weight, right? But tye are so YUMMY, and I would also rather have a healthy snack with a small sweets to cut back on other sweet cravings during the day. There are several other uses for apples as well, such as Apple Butter, Apple Crisp, Apple Pies, Applesauce, and of course Baked Apples. Pritikin Longevity … [Read more...]
do you hate the recent facebook changes?
Yea, so do I. Like many, I am not one for change. Sure change is good sometimes, but other times, change is not needed. Last night before I was about to close down the laptop for the night, I noticed some changes to Facebook. These changes were not for the better, I got pretty annoyed. I do not want to see my updates in a small box on the right hand sidebar, I want to see it in the middle how it once was. Instead I am seeing the same thing over and over again. Just because facebook thinks it is a top story doesn't mean I do. I seen several other facebookers fussing about this new change as well, one had comments, so I read the comments to find out there is an app for your web browser. I use firefox, so I got the firefox plugin, now this app or plugin whatever you would like to call it, doesn't make the facebook look like before, but you can customize how your facebook is, you can even change the theme. If you are interested you can head on over to Better Face Book, and check it … [Read more...]
can you believe these dogs are brother and sister
I am not much of a dog person. However, I fell in love with these dogs. It took me a bit to warm up to them, but they are rather good dogs. Can you believe these dogs are brother and sister. The male is the shorter dog, the female is the larger dog. These dogs entertain my daughter for hours. The female dog chases the laser pointer! I have never seen a dog chase the laser light before. This dog hears the click she is searching the floor for the light. … [Read more...]
Monster High for Halloween
With this being our first Halloween back in Michigan, I have decided to make this a special Halloween. I went a head and purchased that Monster High Costume my daughter was wanting. Thank goodness for Amazon gift cards. If I didn't have it set a side she sure wouldn't be getting the outfit. Anyhow, I am wanting to do a Monster High theme, and make some neat treats. I was thinking about some dirt, with worms coming out, and a litter box. I always thought that was super cool. I think this will be by far the best Halloween. As long as the weather is nice that is, I remember one time going trick or treating here in Michigan with it sleeting. Not fun, you come home cold, and just want to sit on the heater! Has anyone made plans for Halloween yet? Will you be having a small party? Maybe a Church event? What are your kids going as this year? … [Read more...]
