Monday Blues

As I sit here looking at the Calendar I see we are already almost done with February, it seems like 2013 only just begun yet it's going pretty fast. Sometimes I just wish time would slow down a bit so I could enjoy life more with my family. I wake up do what I need to do on the computer, and by the time I am remotely done, the day is almost over. Mondays to many mean a new start of the school week or work week. With being homeschoolers and with working from the home Mondays are nothing but another day to us, however, I sit here with the Monday Blues. I guess you can say it's because Monday is when I get the majority of the work done that I put off during the weekend. Working from home can sometimes be more stressful than working at an office. How many of you often get Monday Blues? What are some things you do to help? I do something I shouldn't and I usually end up over on pinterest, to look at all the neat things I would love to one day try. … [Read more...]

Healthy Eating

Eating healthy can be a challenge! Not long ago my husband and I decided it was time to make a change in what we ate. We both felt run down, and had no energy to do the things we enjoyed. One of our biggest weaknesses was all those products that were loaded in carbs. Pasta, pizza, bread, if it had carbs in it, we probably loved it. With making changes we decided we would get products that were a bit better for us. We decided when we made pizza's we would use low carb pita bread. I found this to not only be healthier, but as a busy mom, it's also takes less time. With making smaller pizza's everyone can have what they want on them, with no one fussing about what ingredients are on the pizza. While we still are eating those carbs we love, we are being more creative, and eating products lower in carbs. I have found out through trial and error, that eating healthy doesn't mean you have to remove all the foods you love, it only means you have to choose healthier versions of those … [Read more...]

Protect Yourself From Identity Theft

With technology advancing more and more people are using credit cards and other ways electronically to make purchases via the Internet.  This is opening people up to getting not only their credit card numbers taken, but also allowing hackers to take on their whole identity. Once they assume your identity they will start destroying your life. Some will attempt to get loans in your name, make big purchases via the Internet with your credit cards, and some of these thieves have even attempted to make even bigger purchases using your identity such as purchasing homes and cars. The sad thing about this, is often times this activity is gone unnoticed. Since technology is advancing, it is becoming easier for those hackers to assume our identities. Thankfully there are companies out there such as Lifelock, that will alert us when suspicious activity is being made using our identity. If you want to make sure your identity is protected you can sign up for Lifelock. Make sure to use a … [Read more...]

Are You Thinking About Changing Careers?

How many of you hate what you do? How many of you wish you were doing something else? It's never to late to switch careers. There's a famous saying said by Confucius who was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher, he said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I heard this saying many times growing up, I never listened to it and now I preach this saying to my daughter in hopes that when she gets older, she will go for something so loves doing, even if it means she has to go to college for awhile. I want her to not only be successful, but to love what she does, so she doesn't have to work a day in her life, because she will love her work. With having worked different jobs in different fields, now that I work from home, I do love what I am doing. I do wish though that I knew more than one language so that I could expand what I do. If you know more than one language and you are good working with people, you may want to look into getting a … [Read more...]

Video Chat Light Got You Down

With being 800 miles from my family we tend to take to video chatting. The other day when my daughter was chatting with my nieces via skype, my nieces kept telling my daughter they couldn't see her. She too was having an issue seeing them, however, she didn't say anything, she was more wanting the voice. With video chatting becoming more and more popular having good lighting is a must! With people of all ages taking to video chat to keep in contact with family members from all over the world, being in a dim room can ruin the quality of the chat. I would rather focus my time on catching up verses trying to make out the image on my computer. Thankfully, they have products out there that will help improve the lighting so you don't have to chat during daylight hours in the front yard! Products such as video chat light can help brighten you up! You can then chat with your loved ones, and not look like you're in the dark. How many of you use your computer or iPad to chat with loved … [Read more...]

Seeing The Damage

Today is the day we get to go see about getting our taxes started! We get to see what the damage is and how much we are getting back. I honestly didn't think we would get anything back since we don't pay in. However, since we are in a small tax bracket we will get enough back to pay what we owe and to get some back. Taxes are so confusing to me, over the past 9 years I have always done our taxes, this year I am not even going to attempt to figure them out. We will be going in to get them done, I am only hoping we get enough back to pay the car off. That would be awesome!!! Paying the car off means I will be able to enjoy some much needed time away from the computer and more time with my family! A large part of our time is spent working on the computer. We need to reverse those roles, and spend a large part of our time off the computer. Since winter has been here I have gained about 15 pounds, and I am already big, so this needs to be tackled and soon. When we were in … [Read more...]

Baby Brother, I Love You

In 1988, we lost my baby brother to a house fire, I was only 9 at the time, and I have to say that news hit hard. My baby brother was 4 years old at the time, and the doctors I speak with today, believe that situation and the events that took place during the time is what has caused my PTSD. It's so hard to believe my brother is gone, and I often wonder how life would be if he was still here. Tomorrow is his birthday, and he would have been 29 years old. That means he has been gone for almost 25 years. It really don't seem that long ago, I miss my brother dearly. I know all things happen for a reason, and my brother was put on earth to help my mom cope with things happening at the time in her life. I also know my baby brother is looking over my family, and I often see signs. I am a strong believer that our loved ones show us signs in our everyday lives, to show us they're still with us. I love you baby brother and I miss you so dearly.   … [Read more...]

Stresses of Home Remodeling

Home remodeling can be extremely stressful. However, it doesn't have to be, if you plan ahead of time, and have everything laid out the way you would like it, remodeling can be fun and simple. One key to having a little less stress when it comes to remodeling is being organized. When it comes time to redo a room in my home, I like to use the web as my friend. Having access to many different home remodeling sites takes window shopping to a whole new level. One can have more of an idea of what is out there before they start making those purchases. In the next few years we will be remodeling the living room again. It has been about 7 years since we redid the living room, however, the paint is needing some love, and I am thinking about also adding some new furniture! My husband and I have been thinking about ditching the paint, and going with a wallcovering. I have found some super cute wallcovers at www.atriumwallcoverings.com. Wallcovers standout more than paint, and this … [Read more...]
