Learning How To Make Tamales

After going to Texas on vacation in 2020 I have discovered a love for tamales! They make the best tamales in Texas, we had cream cheese and jalapeno ones and we had a sweet cream cheese one, it tasted almost like bread pudding. I have been wanting to learn how to make tamales for awhile now and my sister in law showed me this past week.

We ended up making 10 dozen cream cheese and jalapeno ones, they were a huge hit. Super spicy but my daughter loved them.

Laying in bed the other night, I knew I wanted to make more tamales, because to be honest making tamales is kind of relaxing. So I started Googling different tamales. Did you know you can make almost anything into a tamale? Pumpkin pie, apple pie, all the dessert ones I found had me drooling.

I want to learn how to make the sweet ones I had in Texas, I found a recipe similar I may try at a later date, but later this evening I am going to make tamales with left over turkey from Thanksgiving! I love turkey and I love tamales so why not.

Once I have completed them, I will be sure to share the source of the recipe and how they turned out.

What is your favorite tamale?
