How You Should Workout With Certain Ailments

Nothing should ever stop you from being who you want to be. As we get older we begin to see our bodies increase in weight, and our health is affected by this. We also live busy lives, taking care of the kids, cooking and running daily errands. Unfortunately, as we age, our bodies begin to fade in some ways that are hindering to a more healthy lifestyle. It’s just the way the dice roll sometimes but that doesn’t mean you should give up. Certain ailments can be championed and jumped over so you can maintain your health and be around longer for your children. The key is to know what you need to do to accommodate your health problems, so you can work out just like everybody else does.

Sports vision

For some people wearing glasses is just one step too far. They can be uncomfortable physically, but also make you feel older than you are. Many who need to wear glasses feel self-conscious so when you’re trying to lose weight, it’s best to wear contact lenses. However, everyday contact lenses are not the same as contact lenses designed for sports. Normal contacts are looser fitting, they are designed to be comfortable and able to be worn all day long. Sports contacts fit snugly on the eye, and although they tend to dry quicker you get an aqua solution that comes with them. These will be in the form of droplets which you can use every hour or so if needed. Normal lenses may fall out when you do vigorous movements such as during aerobics, so pay the extra money and get yourself some sports contacts.

Running with an aid

It can be quite daunting going out for a job when you have hearing aids. A little bit of self-doubt can harm your way of thinking and you can become paranoid that you won’t hear vehicles when running across the street and such. However, you can do two things to make the hearing aids fit closer to your body and prevent them from becoming loose in your ear. Firstly, take them for a good clean or learn about hearing aid care. You can clean them properly, getting rid of the natural oils that they absorb and also cleaning away any sweat. Secondly, you should use tape across the hearing aid to stick them to your ear. Alternatively, you can use a headband that fits around your forehead at an angle, so the bang goes over your ears to keep the hearing aids in.

Supporting your pain

Just because you may have arthritis doesn’t mean it’s the end of your running days. There are lots of great products on the market that are designed for joint support. Lessening the pain, they fit the body tightly, limit movement so the bones in your joints don’t rub against each other as often or as intensely.

Part of getting older and still wanting to workout and be in shape, is adjusting to your new body. It’s still yours but it needs a little extra help to function at a high level. Clean your hearing aids first before a run and fit them tightly in your ear. Wear sports contact lenses instead of the everyday lenses you use.
