There’s no way anyone can deny that being a new mom is extremely tiring and very demanding. Your baby will need your attention around the clock and you will find that you have any spare time to yourself. As a result, trying to find the time to exercise and stay fit might seem entirely impossible!
Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be a complete impossibility. In actual fact, it can be easy to stay fit even with a newborn. Here are some great tips that can help you do just that.
Workout At Home
There are lots of workout routines you will be able to do in your very own home. When you do workouts like Yoga and Pilates, you won’t need any specialist equipment – as long as you have a workout mat that you can put out on the floor, you are good to go! It should be easier to find the time to workout at home as you can always sneak in some exercising while your baby is taking their daily nap. This will be really convenient if you have a very young baby as they sleep for most of the day – leaving you with plenty of time to workout!
Take Your Baby With You
Why not take your baby with you to exercise? That isn’t actually as crazy as it might sound. For instance, just taking them out on a long walk in their stroller is great exercise for you. If you don’t want to push a stroller or buggy, you can always buy a sling to wear the baby. That way you can work on your daily step count without leaving your child. It’s also worth checking with your nearest gym as some offer mother and baby classes.
Take Your Sneakers To Work
When you go back to work, you should take your sneakers with you to the office. Your lunch break is the perfect time for a workout! Choose a gym that is close to your office to sign up to. The majority of gyms now offer lunchtime fitness classes that workers can go to during their lunch. Even if you can’t find a suitable class, you could still go and use their treadmills and spinning bikes.
Put Dad In Charge
You will certainly deserve a break every now and then so why not take the opportunity to put Dad in charge of the baby for an hour or so? This will give you the chance to fit in a quick workout into your day. You could use this time to go for a run, bike ride, or hit the gym. The key to any successful relationship is each putting in enough effort and doing your own fair share, so it is only fair that you take it in turns to look after the baby. That way, you can each stay on top of your workouts and other hobbies!
As you can see, it is still possible to stay fit and healthy, even with a new baby!
