Breast changes

Breast cancer is one of the most common killers of women. Most people know to get lumps checked out. But there are other signs to look out for. Check your breasts regularly, and feel underneath your arms. Look out for signs like abnormal discharge from the nipples, or dimpling of the skin. Changes in the size or shape of the breasts and inverted nipples may also be symptomatic of breast cancer. It’s worth noting that the vast majority of breast lumps are benign. However, early treatment often makes all the difference. The sooner you get checked out, the better.

Bleeding between periods

It’s common to have spotting between periods. However, if you have frequent bleeding or heavy bleeding between periods, see your doctor. This may be completely harmless. But it could also be a symptom of cervical cancer or an STI like chlamydia. It’s also advisable to see a doctor if you have pain during sex, or you find it uncomfortable to urinate. If you have an STI, your doctor will be able to prescribe medication. Chlamydia treatment is available online as well. If there is a chance that your symptoms may be caused by cervical cancer, you will be referred for further tests.

Tiredness

It’s normal to feel tired if you’ve had a few sleepless nights, especially if you’re a parent. However, if you feel tired all the time, this may indicate underlying issues. You may be anemic, which means that you have iron deficiency. Or there may be irregularities in your hormone levels. Tiredness may also be associated with thyroid problems and multiple sclerosis. In some cases, it is also linked to cancer. There’s every chance that you just need more sleep. But it’s best to rule out any other causes.

Changes in bowel habits

We all have times when we’re not as regular as normal. But if you notice recurrent changes in your bowel habits, seek advice. You should also arrange an appointment if you notice blood in your urine or feces. Often, diarrhea is caused by eating something that doesn’t agree with you, or a bug. However, it can also be a symptom of lots of different conditions. It may be linked to digestive issues, food intolerance or even some forms of cancer.

Nobody is immune to illness. We all battle poor health at some point in our lives. Most of the time, we can fight off minor ailments and deal with symptoms. Sometimes, however, signs crop up that shouldn’t be ignored. It can be scary going to the doctor, but it’s always best to seek help early. If you are ill, the earlier you get treatment, the better.
