10 Tips for a Stress-free Holiday

The holiday’s can be overly stressful. I know here I try to do everything in advance, so when the day comes I am not rushing. I have learned from past experience, that when you wait until the last minute to get prepared, you are a lot more stressed then if you were to do things earlier, at a slower rate.

#1. Make sure to order your Christmas cards early! This will assure you have them when you get ready to mail them out. Waiting until the last minute will lead to your cards not making it to the proper party in time. When I first started sending cards, some didn’t received theirs until after the new year! OOPS.

#2. Addresses, addresses, and addresses! Make sure to have the addresses of those you are sending cards to, also if you are sending out dinner invites, to this early. Waiting until the last minute might result in you eating a lone.

#3. Plan a head. It is always important to plan everything a head of time, this way you can slowly purchase food, and presents.

#4. Go shopping! DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT wait until the last minute to do your shopping. If you do this the shelves will probably be cleared. I remember one time going to Walgreen’s a few days before Christmas because I forgot a few items. NOT fun, why because many people are last minute shoppers.

#5 Don’t forget those letter’s to Santa, get the kids to get those letters done before Thanksgiving, this gives you time to prepare yourself better for shopping. Waiting until the last minute to get those Santa letters, might mean your child doesn’t get what they told Santa they wanted more than anything.

#6. Relax, no need to stress, the holiday is coming whether you are ready for it or not.

#7. If you are having a big family get together, see if some can bring dishes to pass, this also helps take off some of the responsibility off of you! Or if you intend to go out for the holiday, see if you can bring something to help the one preparing the feast.

#8. Search the internet for some fun crossword puzzles, and coloring sheets for the kids! Kids tend to get bored fast, having things to keep them entertained, will make for a more peaceful evening.

#9. If you tend to give gifts such as candies, and cookies. Ask your children to join in, kids love helping in the kitchen, and let’s be honest, baking is no fun by ourselves, and you can get a lot more done!

#10. Remember, if you are unsure of what to get someone for Christmas, money always works.

The holidays are not meant to be stressful, they are meant for family and friends to enjoy each other, things were no intended to be perfect.
