If Fitness Is A Mindset, How Do You ‘Think’ Your Way To It?

You likely know that the fitness lifestyle is one worth living, and can improve your life in so many ways to make the time investment negligible. However, it’s not as if you can simply flip a switch to turn off your bad habits and start anew with care and consideration. It’s not as if in a week of exercise you’re going to think like someone who can perform ultramarathons, nor might you want that level of obsessive drive.

However, the fitness mindset is essential to living healthily. The hardest fitness battles are won in the mind, the same as anything in life. The good news? Working hard on your body can help influence your mind to be more positive, and to know have the potential within you. But can you artificially ‘think’ your way into this mindset? Can you force it? We’d say that the results are middling on this. But you can prioritize your emotional development in order to allow the fitness mindset to become only natural for you. Here’s how:

You Have To Want It

You have to want to change, not only to see the results, but want to engage with the process. You have to want the challenge as much as the results. You have to want the change in personality you will experience, the disappointments you might feel when not quite hitting your goal, the fire you feel to complete the goal next time, and the resounding sense of satisfaction you get when finally achieving it. You have to want to learn something new, to spend your time in a new frame of mind, and being able to back up your results with hard work. You can’t go into the fitness mindset only wanting results. You have to want the whole package. Thankfully, the whole package is absolutely worth it, and it doesn’t take time to feel that way. You likely know the moment you feel content after a workout that you’ve done extreme good for yourself. But to enjoy that, you have to have wanted it.

You Have To Like It

You have to like what you’re doing. There’s no point trying to become a marathon runner if you hate every step, and much prefer swimming. There are enough fitness disciplines to find one perfect for you, so be sure to find it. Find something you like. Find a place you can feel at home, such as a weight loss studio for women that prioritizes connection and discipline overall. When you enjoy something, it’s much easier to get yourself to do it. We all know this, and fitness is no different.

You Have To Be Kind To Yourself

Be kind to yourself. You’re not perfect, nor will you ever be, nor is anyone. Just do your best, fall in love with the process, and reward yourself for positive results. Feel pride in your achievements. You’re likely doing better than you think, but don’t hate yourself and lose all progress if you fail on a certain day. You’re lapping everyone on the couch.

With these tips, you’re sure to naturally find yourself in the fitness mindset.
