How Time Flies

It's been awhile since I last posted. The past few years have been a roller coaster. I forgot what it was like having a toddler. God blessed me with a son at the age of 41! During the Summer months we travel Michigan looking for fun things to do, I know he will be my last and with 19 years in between my son and daughter I want to make sure I don't miss a beat. The things he does and how fast he is learning it amazes me every day. I only wish he would slow down a bit. I am hoping I will be more active on the site. I would love to share the crazy things my son does and says with the world. He is one smart little boy and he brings so much joy to everyone he encounters.     … [Read more...]

Being a Full Time Working Mom to Part Time

I work home health care. For the past 3.5 years I have worked almost every day. I took care of an elderly man up until I got pregnant with my son 68 hours a week. After I got pregnant I had to fight with my employer to get other care takers to help. I was very dedicated to my client so if a caretaker didn't show up I would go help this client. It was extremely exhausting. I was even going to help a few days before I delivered my son. My client knew he could always count on me. The end of October everything changed. I got to clients house at 6:30 am. I noticed he had a lot on congestion. With his medical condition I decided to contact 911. They came out and loaded him up and took him to the ER. Well, the hospital decided it was a COPD flare up and they sent him home. I was so upset because I knew he wasn't in the right condition to be home. I went over there to help him get settled in for the evening. I expressed to his daughter how I was concerned about her dad. The following … [Read more...]

Do You Have A FishyPic

My husband loves to fish, with the weather warming up, I am sure he will be at the lake or river most of the summer. Yesterday we went to the river, and while we didn't get to get any fishypic we did get to get some beautiful pictures of the river and the sun setting and we had a blast with some friends. I always love seeing fish pictures, I have noticed the guys around here though like to hold the fish a certain way to make the fish look bigger than it truly is. My husband has a friend that is good at that one! We like to not only get pictures of my husband and daughter with their fishes, we also like to have them held up to the tape measure so you can actually see the size of the fish. They haven't caught to many trophy size fish, but they have caught some close to it. My husband is working on his trophy bass, and he says once he gets it, he will be having a taxidermy  mount it for him, so we can hang it on the wall. I am not much for fishing but I love going out by the … [Read more...]

The Purpose of Sweetest Day

Do you know what the main purpose of sweetest day was? Sweetest Day originated in 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. This day was planned by 12 confectioners, which was chaired by a candymaker by the name of C. C. Hartzell. In 1921, the committee handed out over 20,000 boxes of candy, the ones to receive this small treat were orphans, old folks, newsboys, and poor people. The candy was handed out by some big named movie stars such as Ann Pennington, and Theda Bara. After this several attempts to start a Sweetest Day in New York City were made. On October 8, 1922 candy companies even tried to start a "Candy Day" through-out the U.S. September 25, 1937 the New York Times even took out a section under its news and notes area stating the NCA (National Confectioners Association) launched a movement to rank Sweetest Day,with Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. In 1940, they launched yet another Sweetest Day, this time more then 10,000 boxes were delivered to about 26 local … [Read more...]

How is The Weather Were You Are?

Michigan weather stinks! We went from having a beautiful week, to ending it with cold, and rain. It is currently 42 out, the wind is blowing and it rained all night. I can certainly tell winter is approaching. I can only hope it isn't to bad, I am so not use to driving in snow. Living in Tennessee for 8 years not having to worry about the cold white, wet stuff spoiled me. I mean sure I can drive in it when I have to, but I really don't like to. I may just be locked in the house for the winter. I will sleep the winter away, sound good? Does to me. I have been laid up in bed most the day, because days like this are so blah. I just want to grab me some hot chocolate, snuggle in bed with a book, and not come out of my room until my book is complete. That right there would be the life! However, I have a lot of stuff to do, so cuddling with a book and some hot chocolate has to sit on the back burner. How are some ways you find to motivate yourself when it is just to cold to remove … [Read more...]

Online Drama

Reference Trouble 1 = girl I once was friends with. Trouble 2 = girl I spoke to from time to time. other blogger = a friend of mine for years. I felt the need to do this post for a few different reasons. #1 people like to talk, and tell lies, and we all know there are 2 sides to every story. Let me first start by saying this blog was once OWNED by another blogger. She purchased the domain, she paid the hosting. A girl she was once friends with DID, however, blog here. This other blogger that owned this domain, told trouble 2 several times, she needed to pay for the hosting, at that time she decided she didn't want the site. This was back in April, the minute she seen it had PR she wanted the site back. Keep in mind she never owned it, this other blogger told her if she paid the hosting, and transferred it, she would have no problem signing it over to her. At this time trouble 2's other blog got PR, again she decided she didn't want it... Again it sat, this other blogger new I was … [Read more...]

Shopping in Different States

One of my biggest fusses about living in Tennessee was the prices of food. The prices of food seemed to be insanely high, and there were hardly ever any good sales. I remember when we first moved to TN in 2001, I was bummed that they had hardly any good sales. I know living in Michigan most my life, during the winter months, stores had case sales. During this time you purchased in bulk! They would have boxes of pasta 5 for $1! Did I also mention Michigan has no sales tax on groceries. Tennessee's sales tax is 9%! Not only are the prices of food higher, they nail you with high taxes. The other day I went grocery shopping at one of my favorite stores, Meijer! I personally like Meijer's over Walmart, they have better sales. They have deals such as buy 10 for $10 get the 11th free, this making it 90 cents each. Ragu spaghetti sauce if purchased the case, 5.99 and you get 6 in a case! I also love the stores that sell spartan product. Right now they have certain veggies 2 for .88 … [Read more...]

10 Tips for a Stress-free Holiday

The holiday's can be overly stressful. I know here I try to do everything in advance, so when the day comes I am not rushing. I have learned from past experience, that when you wait until the last minute to get prepared, you are a lot more stressed then if you were to do things earlier, at a slower rate. #1. Make sure to order your Christmas cards early! This will assure you have them when you get ready to mail them out. Waiting until the last minute will lead to your cards not making it to the proper party in time. When I first started sending cards, some didn't received theirs until after the new year! OOPS. #2. Addresses, addresses, and addresses! Make sure to have the addresses of those you are sending cards to, also if you are sending out dinner invites, to this early. Waiting until the last minute might result in you eating a lone. #3. Plan a head. It is always important to plan everything a head of time, this way you can slowly purchase food, and presents. #4. Go … [Read more...]

Shopping for Men

The men in my life can sometimes be extremely hard to purchase for during the holidays.  I tend to purchase them all the same thing each year, just different styles. My husband and dad are big knife collectors, so I also try to get them a few different knives to add to their collections. I mean you cannot go wrong on gifts when you get one something they collect now can you. Chances are I will never get them two of the same knives. This year I want to get them each knives engraved with their names on them. With Christmas only a few months away, it is time to start looking. I don't want to wait for the last minute, and the items not get shipped in time. One place I found online, that seem to be really reasonable in their prices is knife depot. I have found some pretty neat knives on there! I may have to get me a small folding pocket knife for my purse. A pink Swiss army knife would make a great addition to my purse, I am always looking for something to open packages with when I am … [Read more...]
