It seems like almost weekly, I feel like I am starting over when it comes to my 'healthy living plan.' Some how some way, something gets in the way of me being able to continue - and it's my fault. I would like to be able to blame others, point the finger "you are why I'm overweight." But I can't. I allow other things to take priority over healthy eating, exercising, and just living well. I have a lot of people tell me "you have a lot on your plate - you work full-time, you have 3 kids, and (up until recently) your husband has been gone on the road, and everything is up to you." But the problem with that excuse is I see Mom's with 6 kids, that work 2 jobs, and don't have a husband at all and yet they manage to keep their home organized, their meals healthy, and make time for themselves to work out. Even as I write this I notice something very important that the 'others' do that I do not. I don't "Make Time". I sleep too late, I spend too much time watching T.V., … [Read more...]

ONEHOPE wine – the wine that keeps you feeling good
Recently I was introduced to a wonderful company that goes by the name of ONEHOPE Wine. ONEHOPE Wine sells many varieties of wine and are some of the best wines I've ever tasted - but that's not even the half of it. HALF of their profits are donated to partner charities with every bottle sold. In a mere 5 years the company has donated over $750,000 to some very worthy charities. Company with a Mission Sometimes people find causes, other times causes find people. Such is the case with the founders of ONEHOPE. ONEHOPE was started by eight friends who turned what started as a personal mission to help out a friend with her fight against cancer into a thriving business which is founded on a very basic, but compelling principle: giving back is good business. The eight founders started the company working out of their living rooms and selling wine out of the back of their trunks. Since the inception of the company in June 2007 the company has grown from 0 to well over 40,000 cases … [Read more...]
Weeding out the Negative –
So I mentioned it before, I am a book worm. I have a huge collection of self help books because that's what I enjoy (I will gladly analyze you free of charge, lol). I not only like to figure out why I'm feeling or acting a certain way, but I also want to know why others are. One of my most favorite books ever is Safe People: How to Find Relationships That Are Good For You, and Avoid Those That Aren't; by Henry Cloud and John Towsend. Now this dynamic duo has written quite a few awesome books including the Boundaries series (including one for kids!) But Safe People is an awesome book for those of you who are unsure how, (or even who) to weed out of your life. I have always been (up until recently that is) been a person who really cares what others think about me. I would honestly work hard trying to get the person who I thought didn't like me, or who I offended, or who was always saying negative things, to like me, accept me, forgive me... I would go out of my way for people who … [Read more...]

Military Diet Adventures
So my sister & I were pinning our way through Pinterest one day, and found an interesting Pin about a "Military Diet- lose 10 lbs in 3 days!" I scoffed at the thought thinking, "yeah sure, just like all the other diets claim to eat this, drink that, and lose all this weight. There is no way." But my sister had other plans she decided that she was gonna' give it a shot - and I was gonna' be along for the ride! I have to admit I was very skeptical about the whole thing - but my husband said it was done when he was in boot camp (and of course his skinny rear got extra rations), and that it really worked. So we started Day 1 yesterday. I can tell you right now a lot of it is mind over matter! I regularly eat low calorie and healthy, but to be told what to eat when to eat it and how to eat it was a bit new to me. This was our breakfast menu for Day 1: 1/2 Grapefruit, 1 Slice of Toast, 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter, and Coffee or Tea - I can honestly say I've never eaten … [Read more...]
Several Jobs Out There
We keep hearing about there being no jobs, but there are jobs, just jobs many people don't qualify for. If you are currently looking for a job, one of your best bets would be to contact a employment agency. These agencies are here to help those without work find jobs that they can do. Whether is be office work or factory work. Sometimes it can take time for the agency to find something that would be a great fit for you. While these jobs are usually always temporary and have no promise that you will be working for a set period. If you go into the job and you show them what you are capable of doing, chances are your temp job may turn into a permanent job. Employers want workers who are going to pull their own weight, and not ones that have to be told what to do and do more wondering than working. I have found that if you are good to your boss your boss will be good to you. Sometimes though it does take time to find that perfect job, not everyone is cut out to do certain things. If … [Read more...]
