How Busy Moms Can Find Time in Their Schedules to Relax

As a parent with young children at home or older kids in school, you know that you seldom have time for yourself. Between running the kids to school, making their lunches and ensuring that they do their homework and get to all their after school activities, you might long for the day when you can sit down with a glass of wine and have an hour just for you. No matter how limited your time is, there are still some ways you can find time to relax. Take a Class Many gyms and fitness centers now offer daycare for working parents who want to workout. You can leave your kids with a qualified babysitter while you take an exercise class. You might take a college class on a local campus, sign up for a piano lesson with a local teacher or even take a painting class. Many colleges and vocational schools offer classes for adults and have daycare on-site. Design Your Own Scent When … [Read more...]

10 Uses for Newspaper

With the economy in shambles a large part of Americans are turning to couponing to save their families some money. It’s recommended that a family using coupons should purchase one Sunday paper for each member of their family. If you’re a family of 5 that’s a lot of extra newspaper that will probably find its way to the trash. Instead of throwing those newspapers away, I am going to give you 10 ways you can put them to great use. 1. Protect Your Workspace – My favorite use for old newspaper is protecting workspace when the children are doing arts and crafts. I find this to be one of the more common uses for old newspaper. By laying several layers down it protects the work surface if any accidents happen. 2. Kitty Litter – Shred the newspapers up, and use them for kitty litter. Using old newspapers for kitty litter is a great way to save money. You’re already purchasing newspapers so no need to also purchase kitty litter. 3. Pet Cage Lining – Line the birdcage with them. Fall is near!

Fall is my absolutely, positively most favorite season of the year. Out come the jeans and hoodies, the fall festivals, the leaves are changing colors, and the weather is just right. I have already started on my 'fall decor' for this year, and thanks to my Pinterest board, I have all kinds of new ideas (and recipes!) Here is a simple way to add some fall flair to your home. Just empty out a pumpkin, and drop a small enough flower pot in - VIOLA! Add a ribbon for flair if you'd like, but I think it would look just as cute without. This would look great as a centerpiece, or on your porch! THIS idea is awesome as well. I hate the way my empty, dead flower pots start looking once the cooler weather hits. It seems soo drab and ugly. This is a great idea to give it some flair. I think fake pumpkins would be your best bet so you can use them year after year, but real would work too. Use a stake to put down in your pot, and slide each pumpkin on (this will keep them from tipping … [Read more...]

You Would Think I Was The Computer Repair Person

My husband and I know a lot about computers, matter of fact we once was going to open up a computer store in our home town, we had everything all planned out. Then like everything else, it crashed. We are even listed in the yellow pages under Computer Repair Services. Thankfully, we no longer have that number so we don't get any calls. I remember one time we were sleeping and the phone rang, I answered it, and it was someone wanting to know what we charged for replacing a hard drive. One thing about being married to a man that is brilliant, is when I cannot figure out what the heck went wrong on my computer I get free IT Support. My husband and I end up butting heads a lot in this area. I like to keep trying to figure it out, while he is getting mad because I am getting mad. Make since? Yea, I didn't think so. When he takes over to try to fix the problems that are giving me a headache, I get frustrated with him because he is to slow! Often times this leads to us bickering back … [Read more...]

Summer Outings

Is it too early to be thinking about Summer outings? Being back in Michigan I am ready for Summer, and ready to hit the beaches, and have awesome backyard cookouts with my family. We are currently searching for a place of our own, and hope to have the Michigan home as our vacation home when it gets too hot in Tennessee. I always wanted a vacation home! We are looking for a place with a rather big backyard, so we can have room for our gatherings. When we lived in Tennessee we would get together have a cook out and play games, however, it seemed we never had enough sit down space. I would like to get some Adirondack chairs and a small table to place in the middle. Why Adirondack chairs you ask, because most are made from recycled material and they would be great for lounging in the sun, while sipping a nice cold drink, and socializing with family and friends. We also need room for a picnic table or two. Although a blanket on the ground for the kids to sit and eat at once was okay, … [Read more...]
