A Mom’s Guide To Arts & Crafts With Kids!

I find that arts & crafts present an opportunity for you to do something fun with your kids. If this sounds like it interests you, then check out by guide to help make arts & crafts time perfect:

Always Have Your Equipment Ready

Before you start any crafting project, you should get your equipment ready. So, you’ve got to think about all the things you’ll need to complete your little project. If you do a lot of arts and crafts stuff, you may as well buy all the common stuff and keep it in your home just in case. Head down to a craft shop and get lots of scissors, child-friendly of course! There are places like Glue Guns Direct that sell craft guns to help stick stuff down. Then they’re things like colorful paper, glitter, and any other stuff you may use. Get all this stuff and create a little craft cupboard or box at home. You’ll be super organized and crafts time will never be easier! Now, you’re ready to get the kids involved and have some fun.

Make Sure You Do All The Tough Work

Making stuff with your children is fun, but there are certain things they can and cannot do. Anything that’s tough and slightly dangerous, you should do. I’m talking about using a glue gun to stick something onto something else. Cutting things out using proper scissors, not kids ones. Anything with a slight hint of danger is your responsibility. I often find that if we’re doing something that involves a lot of cutting, I’ll cut everything beforehand. I’ll cut out the shapes, so it saves time during the actual crafting. My kids don’t have to sit around and wait for me to cut out shapes for them to stick down.

Let Them Get Messy

One of the main reasons kids love helping with craft projects is because it allows them to get messy. They can have fun throwing glitter over stuff and using paint brushes to add some color. To be honest, a little arts & crafts session with the kids isn’t successful if there’s no mess! They love to get a bit mess, so let them have fun. At the end of the day, you’re going to have to clean up no matter what!

Create Things For Certain Occasions

My final tip is to create things for certain occasions. You may have seen my recent Halloween crafts post where I showed you some DIY bats. That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about! Halloween was coming up, so I made something related to that. Christmas is very quickly creeping up on us, so why not think about some DIY Christmas craft ideas? You can have a super fun time creating stuff with your kids. Here’s a thought, you could make decorations to hang on the Christmas tree! It’s a lot easier to get them interested when you’re doing things based on an occasion or event. Plus, it’s more fun for you too!

So, that brings me to the end of this piece. I hope that I’ve helped you prepare yourself for some fun with your kids!
