I have personally struggled with my weight most my life. This has caused me not to only suffer from depression but also anxiety. I have discovered not long ago, that weight issues and anxiety go hand in hand. My anxiety was so severe when we would go anywhere, my stomach would turn in knots and I would have to go to the bathroom. This made family time pretty much impossible. I remember attempting to go eat out, and within the first 10 minutes I would be in the restroom. I would be in there several more times before we finished up and left.
I remember I would sit there and try to rush my family, I would be having bad hot flashes, and knew as soon as we left my stomach would tell me to get to the bathroom. I would have to race home in hopes I didn’t have an accident in my pants. When I worked outside of the home, I would start having panic attacks, they would get so bad I would have to hold on to something to keep from passing out.
I knew if I wanted to stop having bad attacks I needed to lose weight. I am not sure how anxiety and weight issues are linked. However, I do know I had to do something about my weight, because my anxiety wasn’t getting any better.
Of course this has been a roller coaster from the start, I would drop the weight then gain it back. I would then again drop it only to gain it back. One way I knew how to hold myself accountable for my weight was by weighing myself every morning. Recently, I had the chance to check out the EatSmart Precision CalPal Digital Bathroom Scale .
I currently have 4 different bathroom scales, I have one in the master bathroom, two in my laundry room, and one in the kitchen. Why so many scales? Each scale offers me different information, I have one that gives me my BMI and shows in red and green if I have lost or gained, one that shows me the amount I have lost and allows me to track it via smartphone, one that gives me my body fat, muscle mass, water weight, and bone mass, and the CalPal which gives an estimate of how many calories I should be in-taking a day to achieve my weight loss goals.
While some may say it isn’t healthy to have so many bathroom scales when trying to lose weight, however, I personally think this is up to the person trying to become healthy. When I first started my journey, I had a hard time with the scales, I would step on see an increase and get depressed and give up. Now, I have learned to allow the scale to be my tool in this fight against obesity. If I step on the scale and see an increase, I know I over ate the day before and I didn’t move enough. I know I have to push myself a bit harder the following day.
One thing that stands out the most to me with the CalPal, is that it has a BMI calculator and gives me an estimate of the calories I should be in-taking. Everyone knows in order to lose weight you have to move more and eat less. This particular scale has a 440 pound weight capacity, stores personal data for 4 different users, is easy to program, has a BMI calculator, and can give you an estimate of your daily caloric in-take.
EatSmart stands behind their products and offer a 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. This scale has a 2 year warranty making it a heck of a buy for those looking to get their weight on track. By using the bathroom scales as my guide in my weight loss efforts, I have currently lost 54 pounds since January.
