With battling my weight most of my life, I decided to go talk to the Doctor about putting a plan into action. The struggles I have are not an overnight struggle, but a struggle that has been going on for as long as I can remember. I remember as soon as I hit about 13, the weight started coming on. I was very active as a child, we were always riding our bikes, and running around the neighborhood.
When I hit 8th grade I was 180 pounds and wearing a size 18, after I got into high school things got worse, I jumped to 280. How this happened is really beyond me, we were walkers, we walked to and from school which was about 3/4 mile there and 3/4 mile back, we road bikes for miles a day, and we were always doing something.
At a young age, I was never tested for a medical condition to see what the reasoning was for my weight gain. When I was 16 I was put on a pill to help aid me in my weight loss, shortly after the pill was pulled from the market. I did manage to get down to 205, but that was with moving about 12 hours a day non-stop.
After my daughter was born I went into a depression and on came the weight, I got to 315 this time! I started moving more and lost 65 pounds, but then again a low in the family hit hard, and back up the scales went. Now that I am getting older it seems the weight is harder to come off, I was working out an hour a day, and the scale was stuck. Then it started going up fast, depression sunk in and I stopped working out, why bust my ass if I will have nothing to show for it.
I decided it was to take another route, I went and had some tests done, and it came back insulin resistance, so I was put on metformin, and let me tell you these pills suck. I end up in the bathroom for several hours a day! It’s no fun, so back to the doctor I went again, this time I am on a strict diet and workout plan. No sugars, very little carbs, and lots of protein.
I was recommended to intake 145 grams of protein a day, that is a lot of protein, so now I am on the lookout for the best protein drink that will not give me a large amount of calories. I am going on day three with no sugar! That is a first, because I love my sugars and my carbs. I still have carbs, but in low amounts. We shall see how this turns out.
