Adding A Little Fun To Schooling

Monday was our first day back to schooling! I have to say this maybe a very long year, my daughter has become unfocused. She is getting into the higher grades, where schooling doesn't seem to be fun anymore. So I have decided to make a few changes to make it fun again. One of the subjects she dislikes the most, is math. When she was younger she loved math, but the higher up she gets the harder it gets, and she isn't fully understanding it. So to make it fun we are going to break out the measuring cups, and the money and get to getting our math on. I am hoping once she finds the love she once had for it, it will get a bit easier on her. We're also going to start going to the park, now that it has cooled off. I am hoping the cooler weather will put her into learning mode, if not we can always take a hike to help clear her mind so she can begin to focus more. Are you a home schooling family? How do you tackle some of those subjects your kids don't care much for? … [Read more...]

Important SEC information will lead to good life settlements.

In the past, many seniors were convinced that they had to have life insurance so they simply continued to pay their policy premiums—year in and year out—without determining whether or not those policies were still essential to their financial situation. But that is changing with life settlements. So what exactly is a life settlement? A life settlement is the sale of your existing life insurance policy to an investor at a price that is sometimes eight times as much as the cash surrender value! Savvy seniors of today wonder, “What choices do I have?  Stop paying premiums, and lose all the value I have paid into this policy?  Surrender the policy for a modest cash surrender value?  Are any other options available?” You bet, a third alternative has emerged. It is called, “a life settlement.” But before taking this route, you need to fully research the details of your insurance policy. Weigh your options and gauge the best way to obtain the highest sale value possible. There are very … [Read more...]

Life can be a day at the beach with the right firm.

Ok, all adult stuff is pretty much covered. I guess I am officially an adult now. Let’s see, mortgage, check, car payments, check, children, check, Last Will and Testament, check, 401k, check, and finally a solid law firm in my corner that I can count on, double check. You the last one in that last, law firm, was not one that I thought I needed until recently. The family and I were headed to Ft. Lauderdale Beach in our trusty SUV when we were sideswiped pretty good. Don’t worry we’re all ok. And the kids even thought it was cool. Well as the two parties, myself and the kids driving the other car, got out to assess the damage they began to swear that I was my fault. Uh, no kids. I was clearly their fault and very quickly the driver’s father showed up and started flinging accusations around. Mind you, this gentleman wasn’t even in the car during the fender bender. Well, I called a good friend of mine who’s pretty savvy when it comes to this kind of thing. I asked him if he could … [Read more...]

It’s That Time Of Year

It seems like summer vacation just FLIES by, school has started back up for the kids in my area, with being home schoolers we decide when we go back, while I try to keep it about the same time the public schools does, however, this week the public school days were a bit off so we decided we will be starting on the 12th. I cannot believe my baby girl is in 6th grade already! We have been homeschooling for going on 7 years! WOW talk about times flying for sure. We didn't always home school, we attempted to go the public school route, but things were happening in kindergarten that shouldn't have been, and the school system found it to be funny. So after battling with the school for 3 months, we decided we would pull her and go out on our own. This was the best decision we made when it came to our daughter's education. Not only do we decide what she learns, we also have the freedom we need as a family. If we want to head out of town, we can! Nothing like sitting at a campsite … [Read more...]
