You Would Think I Was The Computer Repair Person

My husband and I know a lot about computers, matter of fact we once was going to open up a computer store in our home town, we had everything all planned out. Then like everything else, it crashed. We are even listed in the yellow pages under Computer Repair Services. Thankfully, we no longer have that number so we don't get any calls. I remember one time we were sleeping and the phone rang, I answered it, and it was someone wanting to know what we charged for replacing a hard drive. One thing about being married to a man that is brilliant, is when I cannot figure out what the heck went wrong on my computer I get free IT Support. My husband and I end up butting heads a lot in this area. I like to keep trying to figure it out, while he is getting mad because I am getting mad. Make since? Yea, I didn't think so. When he takes over to try to fix the problems that are giving me a headache, I get frustrated with him because he is to slow! Often times this leads to us bickering back … [Read more...]

Tasty Thursday: Turkey Stirfry and Rice

Weight loss can be tricky, finding the perfect combo in making a healthy meal can be fun though. I guess we can call this a turkey stirfry, it was a very big hit with my family... Serves 4 Ingredients: 1 pound lean ground turkey 1 bag of mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) 1 onion diced 1 can of cilantro and lime tomatoes Garlic to taste cilantro to taste Sriracha 2 cups Whole Grain Rice First you want to cook up the ground turkey, once the turkey is cooked you will add the onions, garlic, cilantro, tomatoes, and mixed veggies. While this is cooking cook your whole grain rice. Then add the sriracha, i suggest only adding a small amount this stuff can be spicy! Once everything is cooked serve over the rice. This makes a very nice healthy meal, and it's so tasty! Cooking healthy is still bit of a challenge to me, I am experimenting with different ingredients to see what we like and what we don't like. This one happened to be a win for the whole … [Read more...]

The Ins and Outs About “Diets”

How many of you have at one point in your life turned to a diet to help you lose weight? How many of you that have turned to a diet to lose weight gained all if not more of that weight you lost back? Me, Me, ME! I don't know how many times I put my body through the ringer on a diet only for it to come right back after I was done. From my experience most diets are junk, the reason being they don't teach you how to eat right, or how to maintain your weight. Instead they show you how to starve, and deprive your body of the nutrients it needs. Take the HCG diet for example... on this diet for three days you fill your body will all sorts of fatty, greasy foods, you fill up on all these to the point your going to throw up. After the 3 days, you start to starve your body. You jump from thousands of calories, to 500. You are very limited on what you can eat, you're also very limited on what you can do. After you are off the diet, you were so deprived of the things you loved before you go … [Read more...]

Probar Fruition Review

Trying to lose weight can be a challenge, if you don't have the proper snacks. Having the proper snacks in the house will help you when you have urges to eat high calorie snacks that have no health benefits to you. I recently discovered the probar fruition, these bars maybe little but they pack a powerful punch.   The Probar Fruition come in several different flavors, such as cherry, strawberry, lemon, blueberry, chocolate orange, peach and cran-raspberry. Each being gluten free, and offering a ton of health benefits. These little bars are certified organic, and contain 2 servings of fruit per bar. This is very beneficial to us that don't get much fruit in our diet. Did I also mention these are considered a superfood, and contain ingredients such as chia seeds and omega-3! With trying to lose weight, I love all the health benefits packed into these little bars, each bar contains 160 to 170 calories, and will keep you satisfied for a while. I have tried all flavors and I think … [Read more...]

Summer Salads

Summer is now in full swing! Which means a lot of cook-outs, and a lot of side dishes. Being in the South when one cooks out it seems they make enough food for a small army, or at least enough food to last a week. One of the favorites in my husband's family is BBQ Bologna, I personally am not a fan, but then what again do I know about good foods. I do know how to make some killer side dishes though, being from the North we specialize in those sides. One of my all time favorites is Macaroni Salad. Now everyone has their own version of this household favorite, mine I learned from my mom, and boy is it a huge hit with the in laws. How much of everything used it all up to you, it depends on how many you're feeding, and how much left overs you want. Macaroni Salad Frozen sweet peas Tuna Fish CHEESE I like to use the colby jack and I cut it into chunks. Macaroni (I use the shells) Miracle Whip Basically, you make your pasta, chill it then add everything mix it well … [Read more...]

Battling Anxiety

It seems lately I have been having a harder and harder time battling my inner demons. I often wonder why I cannot be that fun out going person I was between the age of 18 and 20. It seems as I get older my anxiety gets worse. I am slowly starting to forget things, and when it comes time to make those phone calls I panic. The anxiety I have I wish on no body, it seems lately I have been having attack after attack and when I take a xanax for it, it only last a little while before I have another one. Small things are triggering them, and I am to my wits end. Have you ever felt so hopeless in your own body? Sure I am trying to live healthier, and I am working out daily, I would have thought this would have helped some. But it hasn't, as I sit here and type this, my stomach is turning. It is often hard for me to discuss the issues I have with my loved ones, I have only just recently really opened up to my husband. We have been together for 12 years now, and it wasn't until almost 7 … [Read more...]

The Key to Losing Weight Successfully is Water

While there are many keys to losing weight successfully, one of the main things is WATER. Did you know most Americans don't drink the amount of water their bodies need daily? To find out how much water you should be drinking take your weight and divide it by 2... that is what you should drink in ounces everyday. If you struggle to lose weight, start by drinking at least 100 ounces of water daily. Make sure to add ice, COLD water will make your body work harder to warm it up, thus burning more calories. With struggling with my weight for a long time, I have since learned some little tricks. Drinking water will make your body feel fuller through out the day, so you will eat less, and we all know if we eat less we lose weight. Losing weight can be a challenge, but if you put your mind to it you will see results. I know some people will look at the scale and get depressed, I have learned not to let the scale control me. If I see an increase on the scale I just work that much … [Read more...]

Combating Fleas and Ticks

Now that Summer is here, the fleas and ticks become a huge problem. If you are a pet owner sometimes chemicals are not a good thing to put on your yard, did you know Apple Cider Vinegar can help you control the fleas and ticks that get on your beloved pet? The vinegar makes your pet taste to acidic to the pests, and often times they will not get on your pet, this is an all natural way to help combat the pests, now this doesn't kill the bugs, but will let your pet feel better. One thing I hate the most is fleas, they cause my pup to scratch. So I have started to put 1 tsp of ACV in his water daily, soon the fleas will not like his taste, I also spray him with a 50/50 solution of water/ACV before we go outside. A happy pup is a happy owner. Also be sure to vacuum your carpets daily, this will also help keep those pesky fleas to bay. What are some ways you help keep your beloved pet free of those nasty bugs? … [Read more...]
